Day 1 of Debt Awareness Week (Monday 29th Jan) has been named as DEBT DAY.

At 11am we’ll be screening an exclusive interview with Neil Hamilton on IVA TV (tv.iva.co.uk). Neil will be telling his personal story of his bankruptcy.

Then at 1pm we’ll be screening the IVA TV Debt Surgery - your questions put to the experts in IVA TV’s first ever debt surgery programme.

Are you worried about your debts but unsure what action to take? Is it affecting your health? Perhaps you feel you have been treated unfairly by your bank or other creditor? Or maybe you have embarked on an IVA and would like some advice on what happens next?

The programme will give you a chance to have your questions tackled by a panel of experts:

Elaine Williams, Director of SAFE (Struggle Against Financial Exploitation)

Richard Reid, Psychologist at Pinnacle Therapy; and

James Falla, Director, Author of Debt Book and TV Debt expert.

IVA.co.uk, Britain’s biggest online IVA community for information and advice about Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs), today announced the first annual Debt Awareness Week, to be held from 29^th January to 2^nd February, 2007.

Debt Awareness Week is being held to highlight Britain’s growing debt crisis and encourage responsible lending, as well as responsible borrowing.

To publicise the week, IVA.co.uk will be holding a series of events and encouraging other organisations and groups to do the same. So far, consumer groups, MPs and debt consultancies alike are backing the initiative. Events planned for the week will be announced periodically throughout January and updates will be posted at debtweek.iva.co.uk.
